Fault Codes update, No-Start 200q20v

After much investigation, I tracked down the problem with my Vag-Com to be  
that I was attempting to use a newer version of the software with an older 
style  interface cable.
 
Cranked the engine and got the following codes:
 
00513 -- engine speed sensor
00514 -- ignition reference sensor
00523 -- intake air temp sensor
00516 -- idle switch
 
Clearing the codes, then cranking the engine resulted in tripping the 00514  
or 00513 codes.
 
Any thoughts as to where I should first concentrate my efforts?
