Distributor Woes..

I had problems with my hall sender way back when I got the car, but for me
it was an intermitent fault that would keep the car from starting. Never
had similar issues when mine was on the fritz. I wound up just replacing
the whole distributor and the problem went away. If you can determine
that's the problem, unless have a metal geared distributor, you may want to
replace the whole distributor rather than just the hall sender.

Unfortunately, I don't have any alternate solutions on where to look for the
problem.

Hmm. The Hall sensor, or rather the wires into the Hall sensor,
are a weak point. I thought someone (Lee Levitt?) was looking
into using a Volvo Hall sensor as a replacement. The archives
may have more. For a used distributor, try chris at force5auto.com.
