Adjusting tranny linkage

I got my clutch cylinders bled with the pressure bleeder I use on my
brakes. Clutch feels unbelievably light, almost like pushing down the
pedal isn't doing anything at all, but it springs right back so I presume
that's OK.

I can't seem to shift into any gear but reverse, though. The shifter feels
completely foreign. I thought that when I put the linkages back together
after reinstalling the tranny that I got the clamping parts aligned really
close to the way they were when I took them apart.

Any suggestions on how to get this thing hooked up correctly? Do I have to
just loosen a clamp and make a tiny change and then tighten and then try
and so on repeatedly?
