axle problem

John, Why would you suspect an axle problem, from those symptoms?

Your vibration problem is more likely tires or wheel imbalance
combined with loose tie rod ends or ball joints.

If not a loose suspension, your clunk could also be loose rack to
pinion clearance. Try adjusting the rack per Bentley. Bad CV joints
click, not clunk. Inners never fail.
