Linkage adjustment help

My recent experience with similar linkage issues boiled down to slop. Take a close look
at everything - bushings, rods, the lever that attaches to the trans. Although I found
several places to reduce the slop, mine turned out to be the ball which is peened to the
shift lever had actually come "unpeened". Short of welding it, I had to procure another
link.

Once the slop is goine, there should be no need to adjust - BTDT. I tried adjusting it
out by changing the length of the ball link, but it only made things worse. Best
adjustment was using the Bentley length for that transmission/vehicle.

Hi,
I finally got the transmission swap completed in my 91 200 TQ 20V. Unfortunately I have
no reverse. Which of the two rods most likely needs to be adjusted? I am thinking that
it would be the one going to the right side on the transmission. I am going to try to
lengthen it. I am guessing that the bar is not moving over far enough to go into
reverse.
Does this sound right? Any additional thoughts?
Thanks,
