Instrument Cluster/Alternator/Battery Charging Question

Alan,
The R that he was measuring, Bentley excitation step 2, is the  
resistance external of the alternator, that thru which  the  
excitation current is supplied. Comprised of lamps, diodes and wiring.

Maybe the problem is using anything called an “Ultranator“.
