As long as you don't let it progress too far.

My original Audi , a 1991 Coupe Q has returned from it's next owner, 
who decided to deal with a grumbling noise in the rear by turning up 
the radio volume.   The final result was a failed rear wheel bearing 
- failed to the point that the ball bearings look like squished peas. 
In the process of that happening, the wheel and CV joint evidently go 
hot enough for the ABS ring to separate from the CV joint....and the 
ball joint also show signs of damage.

I'm not mentioning my Sister in law's name to prevent the guilty.
I'm amazed that when this was happening that she didn't lose control 
of the car - the rear end must have been dragging hard to the failing side.
