You should also verify your alternator, I think the factory spec was 110amp, if you have an aftermarket or incorrect bosch 80a you could get this possibly, I would think you need to have seat heaters and other stuff on as well. Having engine stumble is not normal, lites dimming no big deal.
I you pull the alternator, you mite as well replace the bearing, as well as brushes and regulator.

how long do the regulators last usually? i thought the alternators themselves
were pretty stout?
regardless, the light shouldn't dim and the engine shouldn't stumble when the
aux fan kicks on, right?
i'll get a voltmeter and test.

You should also verify with good multimeter, my dash gauge often read below
actual voltage, if you rehab the instrument cluster it usually fixes this and
other issues.
Maintaining clean connections to fan and headlamps is always a good idea,
especially with euro lites, brighter bulbs etc.

Go to the Bosch web site. Should be listed for stock alternator.
