voltage regulator

First time it just went out,no charging. Brushes were barely good. The
second time brushes were worn, but the alternator shaft had about an 1/8
grove worn on it from the brushes. I had a few days were it would work
intermittently before it went dead. I bought a bosh remanufactured. On my old
5000 Avant, the regulator failed and I lost about 1/3 of the full output. I
think it may have been a diode, but that was 15 years ago.

Good luck. Pete

PS ,channel 11 on the AC head displays volts, usually about 1 volt less
than I measure on the battery.

Thanks Pete,

what were your symptoms of a worn out regulator?

my car has 119k (but regularly acts like it has 319k ;-)

My first regulator failed at 150k, the alternator shaft was worn out at
200k.
