broken cam gear key; 034 turbo kit on 7-A coupe

The shaft is not tapered.
You don't need a puller to remove the sprocket.
Once the bolt is loose, the sprocket slides right off.

I've never seen the cam key get sheered.
It didn't damage the key-way?
 
I have seen the key on the crank pulley crack.
