Since you have VAG--COM, have you checked Group 0 , the one that has many operating conditions like load, intake air temp, RPM, TPS, etc? It is designed to be read at idle and lowish RPM. The Bentley will tell you what the in spec ranges are for the various readings.

Your MAF may only be slightly out of spec, which means it may only need cleaning.
