Poor running 3B

After reading this thread, Im thinking your right. If you unplug the MAF and
nothing happens, its a really good clue. Thats what helped me determine what my
issue was. I did get a MAF code though from vag com. Just to be sure, (and if
youre bored) you can tone out the wires from the ecu to the maf to make sure
they are happy and low resistance (under 1 ohm) as well as pin 1 on it which
should be a good solid ground. Make sure the pins in the connector arent green
too...but it sounds like youre on the right track.

I did loosen a line at the filter, gas squirted out. Just can't
understand why it would not be the MAF if the condition is the same when I
unplug

the harness from it.
Thanks, Pete

Hi Pete,

I had a similar condition with a non-Audi, figured I'd pass the info
along.
I haven't followed the thread closely so maybe this was already covered.
Anyway the car was (still is) a Volvo with a Ford engine transplanted, so
everything is suspect. I found that I could idle up a hill (very light
throttle actually) that I could not drive up accelerating normally. The
culprit was the main fuel pump (there is also an in-tank pump). I
replaced
it with a known good used pump ($10), still going strong.
