1991 200 TQ 20v no-start continues but Vag-Com is here.

I removed the 4 allen cap screws and pulled out the two sensors without any
difficulty, replaced the 4 allen cap screws with never-seize and got
stainless steel ones from McMaster-Carr. Nothing broke but then I didn't
try to remove the two sensors from the piece that holds them in position
above the flywheel teeth. I kept the assembly together as one unit. I am
putting all effort into the grounds and to see what the Vag-Com software
will tell me. And of course getting the distributor cap back in position
and clipped.

I'm a little puzzled by the concern over the engine ground to frame. Mine
looks fine, not corroded, and the starter cranks fine, but I will remove
both ends of it and file the mating surfaces and re-assemble. Today I
replaced the fuel pump relay because I found one for $26. online. The
ground under the rear seat looks like new.

It got down to 20 F. last night, not too much time left to find this problem
before snow arrives. Will have to make room for the car in a garage.

Jim
