200Q Clutch Slave Cyl Same As V8Q?

I'm trying to determine if the clutch slave cylinder that is in the 200 Quattro should
work OK for the V8 trans I'm installing.

I have the trans in. The slave was never disconnected, so theoretically should not need
to be bled. The slave cyl. Did not fit quite as tightly in the bore as otheres I've
seen, but micrometer meaurements were very close between the hole size and the diameter
of the slave. I compared to several other slave cyl. I had NIB and all were similar and
had the mounting hole as apposed to the earlier 5kt units that had the roll pin.

So I went with the 200 one that was in the car. Now the trans is bolted up to the
engine, there is no real pressure exerted via clutch pedal, as if the rod is not hitting
the throwout lever. I did note when installing the slave, that you could push it in
another 1/2 to 3/4" past the mounting hole before it touched the divot in the lever. I
presumed that distance would be taken up once the trans was in place and release bearing
pressing against the pressure plate.

Is the Rod on the V8 tranmission slave longer? Should this be just a matter of
bleeding?

Is the V8 slave different in more than just the number?

Ben
