Hi Mike,

well then - i suppose they really don't know much about older audis then.
because trust me, shayne reset the airbag light by doing this (read down the
page):
http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/trouble_shooting/susp.html

and when you told the shop that the airbag and the abs were fine prior - they
wouldn't honor fixing it? it's probably some electrical mojo they messed with
when replacing the wiring harness, no?

i've never been to 2bennett - but i highly recommend 034 motorsport. fair
prices, never overcharge and they REALLY know audi 5 pot engines (after all, 034
are first 3 numbers on all audi 5 cylinder engines ;-)

plus they are closer to west LA than davis. still bay area (fremont) but closer
nonetheless. plus they can make your front wheels lift off the ground if you
wanna step up to a GT3701 turbo kit ;-)

i live in oakland, so only 1/2 hour away.

believe me, i would have ripped all my hair out with my car if not for my
friends shayne and dave, plus the the boys at 034. these cars aren't UFOs or
anything, but they are not simple machines. my car almost got the best of javad
with its boost issues before he traced the problem to corroded ecu ground wires.
who would have thunk it?

is there a socal audi board? if so, ask if anyone down there would be willing to
run the codes for you.

sorry to hear you can't keep two cars. that's really what these old girls need
at their age. to be a stylin' fast sedan in vintage audi style - and then have a
daily driver for the daily grind.

you can try and list it - but the market for non-essential vehicles has gone off
the deep end since the recession started. i bought my 200q20v with 114k on the
clock for $2,800 in june of 2008. i didn't think it was an especially wonderful
deal being the roof was faded (lago blue), the 17 B5 A4 rims needed rubber and
the shocks were shot. and the a/c needs a recharge - clutch kicks in, but no
frosties. but it was in the next town over from me - and you just gotta pull the
trigger if you really want a 200q20v. and i did.

when i'm done, it will be resprayed oceanic blue. all mods i want have been done
except for the turboback. 034 stage I chip, koni struts, H&R springs, 034 billet
bypass, samco hoses. and a SHITLOAD of maintenance. and i probably still won't
be able to get $6k for it when i'm done. but whatever - it will be a badass ride
(already is - just needs the show to match the go).

by all intents and purposes, i should have bought a URS4. tighter chassis and
DIS ignition. but i've always thought the URS4 looks like a bloated A4. the
200q20v looks like a REAL AUDI!

see ya,
Robby

I took it to Ingolstadt West here in Los Angeles for the engine wiring
harness replacement, and they said that it "wouldn't let [them] access the
airbag or abs codes through Vag-Com." Truthfully, the airbag and abs
problems WEREN'T EVEN THERE prior to taking it in to them, but showed up
after they replaced everything. Upon initial inspection after bringing it
home, I found that they had actually hooked the bypass vacuum hose line to
the HVAC motor control, among other mistakes. It really disappointed me.
Also, yeah, before all the faults showed up/taking it to Ingolstadt, I was
around 21/22 psi but since then I haven't been able to get it past 18
consistently.

I can't actually keep another car around, but if I don't buy the newer car,
I'll probably just drive it up to 2bennett in Davis (yeah, LONG drive), and
have them diagnose/repair it. Those guys and Scott Mockery are just about
the only mechanics I trust anymore...
