wastegate frequency valve

I replace mine years ago when I was chasing boost issues. It turned out
not to be the problem. Try calling Chris at Force 5 Auto, 603-223-6700, and
price a used one.

Good luck!

Have had some minor boost issues all along with the Avant. I've gone
through and eliminated the usual boost leaks a couple of times over the
last
5 years which always restores 1.8 ability. Nevertheless I would regularly
experienced limited boost after shifting.

Lately we had some warmer weather and boost was really limited and the
exhaust started to smell bad. I was going to go chase down the redundant
wiring someone added from the intake air temp sensor to the ecu, but
decided
to pull codes first.

Never have had the check engine light come on (it is so equipped) and
correspondingly had no codes.

I decided to do the output tests because I've never done them before. I
got
to the wastegate frequency valve and it wasn't clicking. So I played with
the connector and it started clicking. I pulled the boot up and the wires
seemed okay but I went ahead and removed them from the connector and they
still seemed like they weren't broken ala the door jamb wiring.

So I put it back together and still had intermittent clicking of the valve
depending on how I was holding the wires.

I decided to get way more specific with how I was manipulating things and
started to get the impression that the wiring and connector were okay and
the tabs or "connectivity" within the valve itself was flaky. It looks
like
its the original part possibly (242k miles).

I used a test light and it would flash reliably when the connector was
removed and I manipulated the wires all around.

So I reconnected it and zip tied the connector/valve so it had upward
tension on it and it sat and clicked away.

I just price a new valve and it's not cheap, but not exactly painful
either.

Has anybody experienced this with this valve before?
Is it worth buying new for other reasons?
Anybody got a good deal on a new one or even a slightly used one that's
just
laying around?

Thanks!
Ed
