oh now you've gone an done it, you bought an old audi ;-)

i had the same issue with my instrument cluster - you do NOT need a whole new IC
- you just need the autocheck module - it's a plastic white box that clips into
place on the back of the IC, you can try and just buy it used - but you might
need to buy a whole IC just to get that piece. this is better than swapping the
whole IC - because you can keep your odometer miles. yes, you can roll them
back, but this is just one less step.

the IC is pretty easy to remove.

as someone who had a half-ass working audi/bose system when i bought my car. i
bought rebuilt front door amps (and speakers) plus got free new bose rear amps
from the factory recall. well, the POS still doesn't work that great. it's a
sorta crappy stereo IMHO (Bose= BLOWS - no highs and no lows ;-)

just go with an the aftermarket system. if you have cash to burn - make a
bitchin' period system with a/d/s amps and separates. if you want, get a rebuilt
audi/bose deck (made in germany by blaupunkt) and use the line out to the
aforementioned aftermarket amps and speakers.

oh yeah - and once you are sure your 20V is mechanically in order - chip dat
mofo and have some fun ;-)

see ya,
Robby

Hello, I'm new to the 200 world (and to this list, so I hope I'm sending
this correctly). I love the car so far, but I am in need of some info.
First, parts of my instrument cluster don't work right. The clock, the auto
check(?) system, and the computer that is supposed to give info like miles
to E are all inop. I have read these can go bad, but have a hard time
finding a step by step repair. TBH I would rather just replace it since I
don't think I could fix even with a guide. I guess the short version is,
where can I get new IC? Also, it currently it has some aftermarket cd
player that doesn't work, but I would like to find an original radio with
old school cassette. Are these difficult to find? because I haven't had any
luck yet. THANKS!
