Fuel Pump saga continuing to a conclusion hopefully

Well, got the Bosch -040 60mm pump in $50 off of ebay. Dropped right into my
old school pump housing without mods. Height was correct, flow and pressure
is bigger than stock. Pulled the old one back out and tested it on the bench
again. Turns out it is locked rotor failed as opposed to dead. When you test
it on the bench it makes a large amperage noise but it isn't turning either
way which is what confused me. Sounds like it is running next to the new one
but it wasn't pumping anything so that must be what we heard in the car last
week. Couldn't free it reversing the current while blasting it with brake
parts cleaner. Glad to know I wasn't hearing things. Charging battery right
now to go through diagnostics for starting... AGAIN...

Question for you tuners: is there a fuel rail pressure gauge that works for
our cars? One you can just leave in? I was thinking that one could be
drilled and tapped into one of the banjo bolts on the fuel rail or just a
sender maybe for a remote on the dash. Wish these cars could be monitored on
my Andriod with Torque the way my ODB2 car can be. I have the bluetooth
dongle thing and my A6 you can look at and graph anything the sensor can
see.
