Straw Poll: How Dependable is Your 200q20v?

i think mine is the exception. i bought it with 114k on the clock. now has 119k. i don't drive it all that much as you can see. i think this is the main problem - it spend a lot of time impersonating a planter in the former owner's driveway. all the seals and hoses dried out. you need to DRIVE these cars.

in that time:

left me stranded:

- slave cylinderand clutch master cylinder

- clutch actuator (or whatever that doo-hickey is that connects the slave to the clutch pedal). this one PISSED ME OFF!
- crank seal pissed oil all over my garage floor.

i've replaced a lot of other stuff, but none of it has left me stranded and was done when time permitted.

see ya,
Robby

Mine never needed a tow in 13 years/50k mi, although it was not my daily
driver except when my "real" daily driver (88 GTI - 14 years/169k mi) was
"down". I may have purchased a battery and some tools away from home in the
early years, and didn't drive it much while waiting for a favorable time to
replace pump-to-rack PS hose. Other maintenance items (the famous plastic
heater valve, for instance, along with heater core/hvac fan) were also done
on my schedule knowing I had another car to drive.

Henry
now "moved on" to competent and pretty but somewhat low-personality A4
avant. Stock 2.0T is quite nice but it's no chipped 3B.
