Towed once in 315,000 miles

I bought my '91 200 new on December 20, 1990. It's got 315,000 miles on
it and stranded me once at about 160,000 when the fuel pump gave out.
Other than that, and the usual maintenance issues, I can honestly say I
have never owned a car of such delight and reliability.

Granted I had to do the usual stuff - dizzy gear, strut brace, a real 80
amp fuse, euro headlights, and in the past two years rebuilt turbo and
injectors, all new suspension rubber, struts, rebuilt rack, mounts,
front window regulators, window sill trim, touch up paint, and on and on
- however, you would have to do this stuff with any car and those miles.

Total cost of ownership has been extremely low because I do most work
myself, and without Bentley, this list, 034 and the guys in Walnut
Creek, I flat would not have been able to keep the car on the road. When
you can blow off a Porsche of equal vintage, and do it in such style,
well, it makes it worthwhile.

I have yet to find a part that I cannot get one way or another, except
the left rear window sill trim, so I made it from marine polypropylene
and it is a better solution than the OEM trim. This is not a car, after
about 200,000 miles, for the non-DIY type. I much prefer it over my
allroad and its sleepy tiptronic.
