Alternator

My local bosch guy rebuilds alternators for about $60 which includes all
wear parts like the regulator and bearings, contacts... You can also buy the
kit and do it yourself if you have a nice press available. Nothing magic
about it, just bearings pressed into each end shell. Up here in Vermont
eventually corrosion gets the windings and then they can't be rebuilt
locally. Bearings can probably bought individually if you can get it apart.

I have a bearing going bad (pretty sure) - makes a funky noise.  But it
charges fine....
