rear diff front cover

Bernie,

It was driving nice before the squeal and the fluid loss right after. 
There is no play in the drive shaft flange and it all turns smooth but 
the fluid loss was pretty significant. I am already at the slide hammer 
stage and it hasn't moved yet. Looking for other tricks, tips, ideas, 
prayers...

If you can’t pry the cover off, I would attach a slide hammer to the input flange and pound it loose. Should pull out in one piece. If the total problem is not just the cover bearing but also a pinion bearing, you are in deep dodo! Inasmuch as the the pinion will have to be reshimmed correctly.
