so, you think it's the FPR?

mine was doing the arm start thing. i replaced the FPR with a high-mile freebie that was working. it worked for a while, but now it's up to it's old tricks. might as well try a new FPR before dealing with the check valve.

Fuel pressure regulator full of fuel on the vacuum side. Sort of 
explains everything I think. When you suck a lot of fuel out of the FPR 
it lifts it up to the back of the intake where it is ingested and runs 
down to the rear cylinder and fills it up. Let the car sit for a long 
time and it would start normally.
