Flywheel pin for ignition reference

OK,

I think I rigged up a way to sense for the crank pin. Pulled out the
sensor bracket and fashioned a safety wire sort of stylus to stick into
the hole near the flywheel wrapped around one of the bolts. I put this
safety wire probe in way past the depth of the sensor itself maybe 2.5".
Then I came up with some mirrors and a headlamp so I could see it from
underneath when turning the crank over by hand. Nothing moved. Can't
find the pin visually.

The only thing on this car that someone else has touched in 15 years is
the clutch. I was on a job in Long Island for about a year and the
throwout bearing shrapneled. I got a NOS clutch kit and a guy here
locally did the job. I don't think he touched the flywheel so I am not
sure how the pin could have gotten damaged. The other thing is I drove
this car for a bit after the clutch job before it died and it didn't die
abruptly but started to buck under load for a while especially while
humid or after sitting out in rain. So I am not sure if he damaged the
pin if it would have been able to be driven home from his shop.

Is there anyway a 200 20v would run without the flywheel reference pin
for any length of time?

And if it isn't there I am assuming the only way to fix is to have a pin
made and thread the hole and locktite or JB weld a pin back in?
