You should not see the lights themselves, they are area lights so that your 
peripheral vision can see your hand it the dark while reaching for the 
stereo/AC/etc the lighter your skin tone the more visible your hand is. It 
only serves to make your hand visible, not to 'light it up', as that would 
reduce your nighttime vision.

Haven't noticed this on my year/model

To prevent accidental opening you have to hold the trunk button down for 
several seconds to pop the trunk.

Let me know if you find out, also if you find out how to switch the mirror 
from compass to temp (I notice the LED panel in the mirror has the Celsius 
and Fahrenheit display capability)
