Structurally, the Miata is safer than it looks.
As for power, Flyin' Miata makes a turbo that will let the Miata put
most V8s to shame; depending on engine size and turbo stage,
about 250 HP and over 200 pounds feet of torque.  They also make
a supercharger, if you'd rather have your HP and torque from idle.

As for the gay issue, paint it pink and tell them where to go. :)
