i'll drive my A4 to tahoe during the big winter storm, to get
to the powder the next day. hardpack with mxed powder on the roads,
and with snow tires it's fast business. when i get to town i often go
to a favorite empty parking lot. powder, no hard pack. it's light
enough when it's fresh and cold to rip around deeper than one could
creep around. when you're going quicker you can sort of blow the powder
out of the way instead of piling it.

i've yet to get stuck in my A4. i had been momentarily stuck
in my urQ but mainly because the diffs would stick.
