[A4] Windshield Washer Leakage

Mark,
Most of the time the reason this happens is because Audi uses crimp type
hose clamps on everything. This type of hose clamp does not account for hose
compression ("set") over time. So all the hoses get loose and stuff starts
to leak. The windshield washer fluid hoses are particularly bad because of
the material they are made out of. The constant tension band (spring style)
clamps like you find on Japanese cars are much better.
Anyway, to get the hose in question you have to remove the left front wheel,
then the left front fender liner. It's actually not too bad a job. Then just
remove the old clamps and put on some good old American worm gear style
clamps.
I've had to replace all kinds of clamps on my 98. Power steering was another
particularly bad leak.
You might also have a cracked reservoir, but with luck it's just the hose.
Good luck!

Has anyone found that they find windshield washer fluid on the ground when
it's cold out? Anyone have any ideas on what is causing this? It seems to
go away when we get above 50deg F. How hard is it to get at the windshield
washer fluid reservoir? Seems like a nightmare, but maybe I'm overlooking
the easy way.
Thanks for any help here you can provide.
