[A4] Fumes question

Phil,
Maybe a longshot but I had a similar problem recently
and it turned out that the rubber weather stripping
that surrounds the engine bay had pulled away from the
lip seating right in front of the interior intake
filter (passenger side near the firewall).  Basically,
the rubber strip seals against the hood and doesn't
allow the engine fumes to get into the interior air
system.
