[A4] Question on tire size and handling

Several characteristics of larger wheels and smaller
sidewalls are that potholes will bend rims more
readily and the ride will generally be harsher since
there is less sidewall flex.
The upside is usually a better responding tire to
steering inputs although this does not necessarily
lead to faster lap times.
I read a tire test with the same tires in 15" 16" and
17" wheel sizes and the 15" was the fastest. The
drivers rated the larger wheel tires as having better
"turn in", etc. but the lap times were not the faster.
Good luck with your choice.
