Yes, I agree with your wheel diameter insights. I'm glad to see that not everyone is wow'd by the sexiness of big wheels. In reality, anything over 10" diameter is just plain old big American consumerism. :-) -Phil01' 1.8T Avant00' 1.8T65' Austin Mini - 10" forever !!!--- On Sat 10/29, a4-request at audifans.com < a4-request at audifans.com > wrote:Message: 3Date: Thu, 27 Oct 2005 23:06:39 -0700 (PDT)From: Michael Thomas <irnstrw at yahoo.com>Subject: [A4] Question on tire size and handlingTo: a4 at audifans.comMessage-ID: <20051028060640.24196.qmail at web30809.mail.mud.yahoo.com>Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1Several characteristics of larger wheels and smallersidewalls are that potholes will bend rims morereadily and the ride will generally be harsher sincethere is less sidewall flex. The upside is usually a better responding tire tosteering inputs although this does not necessarilylead to faster lap times.I read a tire test with the same tires in 15"
16" and17" wheel sizes and the 15" was the fastest. Thedrivers rated the larger wheel tires as having better"turn in", etc. but the lap times were not the faster.Good luck with your choice.
