[A4] removing tie-rod end

I am trying to remove a tie-rod end from my 2001 A4Q.  I have managed to 
loosen but so far have been unable to remove the pinch bolt.  It looks 
like it may be actually be a stud: I can't feel the hex head on the 
other side of the hub, and the threaded end of the "bolt" has a slot cut 
in it.  Anyone know if this is a stud?
