[A4] removing tie-rod end

Hmmm.... Don't you have to use a "tuning fork" to get the tie rod ends
off? If I remember correctly, they are mounted on a taper and will *not*
come off (at least without damaging something) unless you use a fork. It's
early and I could be wrong though... :)
