[A4] It finally broke today!

I experienced the same failure about a year ago. I took the car to a
muffler shop that attached a new flange to the down pipe. Total cost was
$50 including labor. A year later and I have no problems with the weld.
IMO I wouldn't replace the cat unless there was something wrong with it.

Subject: [A4] It finally broke today!
I was driving into work this morning at 5:30am, went to pass on the highway
and I was startled when
the catalytic converter seperated at the flange. I found a new cat online
for approx $200 for OE.
What other options do I have that are cost effective?
I have read you can weld the flange, is this really a long term fix?
I'd rather not patch it so it will break again.
Is a testpipe a good option now?
Anyone have an extra cat laying around they would let go without me having
to spend $$$?
Thanks!
