Hi all,
I own a 2006 A4 2.0T Quattro - a car I'm generally VERY happy with, and I had my first issue come up that is strictly cosmetic, but troublesome. When I wash my car, I always go to a brushless car wash if I use an automated car wash. After taking my car to one of those automated car wash units that I've used for years, I noticed that the chrome trim had become very foggy/milky/discolored. When I stopped at my dealer to ask if anyone else had reported this, the service manager told me he had heard of this happening with an A6 owner. Before I jump the gun and contact the car wash owner (and I'm not very hopeful they'll do anything,) I wondered if anyone else has seen this same phenomenon? The question is, are we talking about poor chrome trim, in which case it's an Audi issue, or a car wash detergent issue, in which case it's a car wash issue. I know ideally, a nice car should be hand washed, but when it's mid-winter, I sure as heck don't want to be hand washing my car!
Glenn
