wow that's a total bummer. sorry for the loss. you're in the bay area -
there are several good audi shops around, not sure who you're using but
hopefully it's not a dealer.

as brandon said, i imagine a swap would run FAR less than 9k - but still
probably 3-5k when all's said and done, b/c there are so many 'might as
well' repairs while they're in there. if the rest of the car is in good
nick, and depending on mileage and such, it may not be a bad option. what
else can you get for 4 grand or so?
