hi jim,
the car is at European Autoworks in Mountain View at the moment.
they've been a good shop for me in the past, so i'd like to think they
aren't ripping me off on this one. the prices they were getting for the
engine alone was $2800 (used from a scrapyard). The $9k included new
motor mounts & turbo since the engine for $2800 didn't come with any of
the "accessories". It also included a new clutch for that exact 'might
as well' reason.
if you have some other recommendations, i'd be happy to hear them.
