[A4] transmission electronics gone funky (bad)

Has it rained lately?
Possibly your TCU is wet it's under th passenger carpet on the floorpan.
horrible design IMO and has caused death of a couple transmissions.
that or find a vag cable asap, sounds like your trans went into limp mode.
