Not far from the compressor (if I remember correctly), there is a small plastic in-line screen filter that catches this type of debris. I had a unit that I suspect had been grinding itself to death for years . . . crapped out . . . changed the compressor (~$160 ebay rebuilt) and the screen . . . been good since. The screen was filled with lots of silvery particles/sludge/slurry. Good luck.

HI All,
Well, that impending AC fix I spoke about earlier, is now a demand. The AC
compressor has seized. Does anyone know where I can get a new one in
Australia? Any advice on how to flush the system to remove any shavings that
may be in the system from the seized compressor?
Thanks
Jon
