[A4] Are drilled rotors really loud?

The reason I ask is there's this 2007 RS4 with 70K miles on it tempting me
locally.  But it sounds like the wheel bearings are going.  It sounds almost
exactly like my 1997 A4 2.8Q that has 200K miles on it.  So I got to thinking,
maybe it's not the wheel bearings but it's the drilled rotors?

Any thoughts?
