[A8] 98 A8 odd sensation in sharp left turn when cold

2nd guess would be a wheel bearing, since they make noise or go quiet as you
load and unload the wheel when cornering. But it's usually the unloaded (inside)
wheel that makes noises, since unloading it frees it up to move around and make
noise.
