[ba] Restoring/updating advice

Say Folks,

Although it's not a real restoration per se,

I'm making incremental headway in bringing my 82 Coupe back into line, (if I
get the rear window defroster and the cruise control operational I'll be
100% on the electrical).

So, looking ahead,

Anyone have any advice/pointers on;

A) user applied sound deadening. A paint type material that I could apply
under the car (and maybe under the interior carpeting) that would help damp
road noise. I don't know if there is such a product. When I was in audio
there was a paint (albeit expensive) called Nextel that damped acoustic
energy and was applied to the front of loudspeakers.

B) are there any techniques for blacking out the bumpers on the early 80's
Audis? There is some UV damage on the silver portions of the bumpers on my
Coupe and it looks like getting a decent look is going to be a pain so I'd
be interested in applying a black finish to the entire bumper. Anything out
there that anyone can point me towards?

C) brake pads. In bikes there are big differences between makers/compounds.
Same in "consumer grade" car pads? I'm just looking for better breaking if
it's available, not to go rallying.
