I don't know about a paint, but there are gooey sound deadening sheets
that you could affix to body panels below carpet/door panels etc.,
and are available from car audio shops.

One way that some reported with success with on the qlist is
good 'ol black shoe polish.

Yes, for street use, I recommend Mintex red box. You can order them via
New Dimensions locally, or via phone/web from other sources.
