Guys,
I have some questions about chip and boost mods to the S4. I also own a 1986 Porsche 951 (944 Turbo) which has chip and boost mods.
When adding chips (Kokeln) chips to my 951, the overall recommendations on Rennlist (Porsche/BMW msg board) was to add an AFPR (Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator), Boost Gauge (many vendors), Air/Fuel Mixture Gauge (too know if u r running too lean under boost), and updated Boost Valve (the Porsche guys also use Forge - but I choose the stock 993 valve - direct replacement for a 951).
I chose not to add a MAF but many 951 guys have for the additional HP (reduces air intake restrictions vs. the stock air box or K&N (cone) filter) gains.
My question is: why aren't the same mods being recommended for the S4 when chipping?
Does the S4 fuel management system automatically compensate for the increased fuel (and air) requirements of a chipped car, thus u have no need for a AFPR?
Is the S4 head gasket so strong that a lean fuel mixture indicator (under boost) is not necessary, thus eliminating the need for a fuel/air mixture gauge?
I guess my point is - if this points are recommended when chipping a 951 (a turbo car) - why not - when chipping an S4?
