I think it's safe to assume that the rule change that disallowed the
whole engine/tranaxle from being replaced (like what was done in previous
years with the R8) applies during the race itself.  Audi did the repairs
prior to the start of the race (during warm up) and that was probably ok.

Also I just went by what I read in the www.lemans.org website News bites,
obviously I have no idea what exactly was replaced...
