[Biturbos4] S4 VIN question

All,
I have an early 2000 S4 - it was built in mid/late 1999.  under the 
hood, on the firewall, my car has 2 VINs stamped. One is XXXXed out, 
with another one under it. I have owned this car since it was almost 
new - clear tittle - clear carfax.

This car is now forsale, and I would like to have a real answer for 
as to why its like that.

Does anyone know? Has anyone seen this before?
