Though my S4 had Washington plates at the time the photos were taken  
(it had just been driven up the Alcan by the previous owner), it and  
I are firmly planted in Alaska. The paved roads here aren't too bad,  
but I do keep my eyes peeled for potholes. I'll take new photos soon,  
with the new wheels.

Unfortunately the paved road turns to a gravel road a couple hundred  
miles south of the arctic circle. The tires of the semis hauling  
supplies up that road throw enough gravel that most wouldn't risk  
their nice cars on it. We're close enough to the arctic circle here  
in Fairbanks (250 miles south or so) that in the peak of summer the  
sun just barely goes below the horizon. It doesn't get too dark to  
read or bike or whatever outside all night long.
