[Biturbos4] Startup Noise 2002 S4

Ok, I went out to the garage and took a look at my 00 S4 since its been
a while since I looked for the pump. You'll find the air pump a few
inches in front of the firewall on top of the engine on the drivers side
next to the Y pipe. The part that sticks up is the motor and is about
the size of a smallish can. It has a 2 or 3 wire connector on it that
you could pull off and see if the noise stops or if you throw a code.
I'm not sure that you'll trip the light but I seem to remember a
discussion on the Audiworld website that said it did. It would make
sense as its part of the emissions system and indicating emissions
related problems is a primary function of the light. I'm not sure of the
official name of the pump but given Audi's consistency it probably is
called several different things depending on where you look. If you call
a dealer or maybe Clair parts they'd probably be able to give you a
price. Alternately you might be able to find more info if you search the
archives on Audiworld.com.
