[Biturbos4] Seat heater repair

Anyone have any experience replacing/repairing an '01 S4 seat heater? My S4's driver side heater is only heating in one tiny area in the back anymore. Actually my '01 A6 biturbo also has a similar problem, with the added 'bonus' of a frighteningly hot spot. 

I found this article on AudiWorld, and step 3 seems to be reasonably applicable, but don't know quite how well it applies to our stock S4 seats since it was written by an A4 owner with non-power seats.

Any B5 S4-specific info on a good online place to order the necessary part(s) nowadays and procedure/personal experience would be appreciated.
