Having recently joined the list, I would like to ask a few questions. I
have a 1986 coupe quattro that presently has a 7A 20v engine with a few
tweaks. Firstly, will the gearbox handle the power and torque of the 20v
turbo, bearing in mind that my gearbox is virtually the same as the old
Ur quattros of the period. And Is there any wiring issues to consider.
(Fitting the 7A required quite a lot of re-wiring to the fusebox.) If
there are any other issues I should consider I would like to hear these
also.
On the issue of the clutch, I have the 10v turbo clutch plate mated to
the standard 7A flywheel and cover, and on quick get aways it is
possible to make the clutch slip more than I would like. I would be very
tempted to use one of the Sachs or Black Diamond sporting clutches
available over here in the u.k..

Best regards,
Yours faithfully,
David Harrison.
